Can people really get in trouble for it? (I live in the USA) What if they use clips from JAPANESE versions? And why would they allow sites that give out downloads to the anime shows, wouldn't they remove it or fine them? I'm VERY confused, I made an amv for my friends for entertainment, I'm really worried about getting fined, my parents will never be able to afford it, please answer!

  1. A lot of animes have been licensed in America.

You won't get fined (unless it's an extreme case), but they can be taken down from the websites (like say Youtube). They often don't bother with AMVs, unless they get a direct request to have them taken down.

Downloading anime is technically not legal, but rarely will you see any repercussion, since there is so much copyright being downloaded all over the place illegally. It also depends on if it is licensed in America or not. If it isn't, it's even less likely that anyone will care, much less fine you.
