What is up with the bonobos and s*x?

Why do some people claim so many things about it?

Bonobos are totally promiscuous and stimulate each other sexually as a kind of greeting or friendly gesture, to diffuse any kind of anxiety that comes along.

This system pretty much keeps them from fighting.  But it results in the fact that there is no fatherhood in bonobo society.  There is no mating bond, therefore no sense of the father bonding with the offspring.  

Also, bonobos can learn to speak in human language, though not perfectly.  Their mouths can do it, unlike chimps and gorillas which can understand human speech but not imitate it.  

Quite interesting animals, but kind of embarrassing for humans to watch.
