  1. Yes. I thought so. His contract expires this coming season and so does Jason Bay's. The Pirates know they can't sign both of them, so why not deal one and get blue-chip prospects for the future.

  2. Living in Pittsburgh, I grew up a pirate fan.  I was very disappointed by this trade, for the Pirates getting a guy in the AAA and 3 guys in the double A.   Nady brought alot of offense to the pirates. Just the downside of him was it seemed like he would get injured a good bit for a 29 year old.  Marte was the best guy we had in the bullpen, and our starting pitching and bullpen is struggling as it is.  I thought maybe if we traded them, we could get a decent major league pitcher starter, with some experience and who could help us win more games.

  3. The "bunch of people you never heard of" are minor leaguers and could be future starters someday...depending on who they have they could help the Pirates if they progress to the Majors...Prospects can be be good or bad and how the want to reach the Majors is up to them. The Pirates need to get development from their players, that's how teams such as Tampa Bay reach first place because of the farm system and great development I don't think its a good move right now but it will take a period of years and eventually there may be some results.

  4. That's the point of these kinds of trades.  Those players didn't really have a future with the Pirates, so they traded them away for people that they think will contribute more in the long run.  When you trade for prospects, it'll be a while before a clear winner emerges from the trade.

  5. it about adding depth to the organization in hopes to be good at some point

  6. well if u listen to bt on espn buster onley said wow the yankees had to give up nothing all the gms were like wow the yankees kept there top propects like austin jackson

  7. its all about the money...pirates cant afford them with the contracts about to expire so they trade to the yanks and pretty sure they got some money from them too

  8. ok heresa lil base ball 101 for you my friend

u never give up major leaguers for major leaguers

its allways minor leaguers with upside

in the next few years the yankees will get the better of the trade

    but watch out

tabata is goin be a beast
