What is up with the popularity of Yuengling lately?

Maybe I'm biased...I grew up in PA and Yuengling was one of the first beers I had.

Sure, it is certainly better than Bud, Miller of Coors...but it isn't that great. Is it? I mean...if you want to have world class PA Pale Lager get a Straub.

  1. I lived in PA too, and I loved the fact that you order it by saying "lager" because everyone knows you mean Yuengling.  It's a really good lager beer.  I live in Colo. now and I'd gladly trade stupid Avalanche or Fat Tire for a Yuengling anytime!

  2. I grew up not far from the Yuengling brewery.  Back in my days the beer of choice in my hometown (Tamaqua) was Bavarian, brewed at the Mt. Carbon Brewery. Since bought out by Yuengling, which is still the oldest brewery still operating in its original plant in the USA.

I believe the mystic of having that distinction helps market their product. Plus, its a good lager.

  3. Probably people are buying more of it since Belgium bought Anheuser Busch rendering it a foreign company.  I would imagine Yuengling is upping their advertising for the same reason.

  4. Yeungling  is fine, but I agree with you that it's not that great. I'm from Jersey, where it's also really easy to get, and I've never seen it advertised anywhere. Not even in Virginia, where I go to school. I think people like it so much because it's not something beer snobs drink but it is a lot better than the macros.

  5. Finally a beer question the you, Mr Adam West will not beat me to answering.

Born and raised in Michigan Yuengling doesn't make its way here. I have had the privilege of trying this brew, while it is better then many beers of the same style (especially for the price) it truly is nothing special.

My opinion is the general macro brewed drinking public is so offended that there beloved Budweiser has "left" them they need an American brew to fill the void.

Me, no pale lager is worth getting excited over. Give me something with flavor, and lots of it.

  6. I like Yuengling.  I think it has to do with the fact that a lot of people move away from PA to other states.  Yuengling is also becoming available more in these states PA people have moved to.  I know that is certainly true for Western PA.  Also, a lot of the people that move away spread word about Yuengling and thats how the popularity has spread.

Straub is a good beer too. No preservatives...

  7. i just like to say it! Yuengling Yuengling Yuengling Yuengling

the drunker you get the harder it is to pronouce LOL

    Yuengling Yuengling Yuengling Yuengling
