i live in windsor ontario, the lightning capital of canada and i am used to dangerous and violent weather but never this frequently. I heard on the weather station that it is a storm cell just recycling around ontario but i mean in the last week we have has maybe 5 thunderstorms and some are very strong. And i just looked at the weekly forcast and 2 of the next week are thundery. as i write this down there4 is thunder going on so why are these thunderstorms this severe and frequent and will they eventually stop coming as frequently. just wondering because i was hoping to enjoy my summer vacation.

  1. There is an unusually cold upper low pressure area in the vicinity of the Hudson Bay.  This is keeping the upper atmosphere around it unusually cold, which in turn makes it more unstable.  Smaller disturbances keep rotating around this upper low across your area which help to kick off thunderstorms from time to time.
