alice in wonderland. the circumstances of the story were so unusual as to catch my attention, as well as being a longer story, not the usual short one. little did i know at the time that it was a parody of society and that passages had been removed to keep the author from persecution from those who would want to suppress the references.

This book blew my 5 year old mind! A dog who belonged to himself! What an astounding concept! I worried myself into a dither over this and I still own a copy today! (I'm 47 now :)
