I was named after one of the Brady Bunch charactors. Guess how much fun it is to hear "Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!" every day for thirty years. Then my mom thought it would be great to name the three of us older girls so our middle names rhymed.  Gee, thanks mom, from all of us.

My name is Guadalupe. It's a traditional, and popular name for the Mexican culture. Shorter versions of this name are "Lupita" and "Lupe". My parents, uncles, and aunts call me Lupe, and pretty much everyone else calls me Lupita. I was born on the 12th of December, which for Catholics, is the day that we celebrate the Holy Virgin Mary. In the Mexican culture, they call her Virgen de Guadalupe. I love my name now, I am very proud to be a Lupita, but when I was growing up, the "white" kids at my school always made fun of my name..... i do like my name. teachers and students at school say my name in different ways and they spell it differently too. they even argue about what is the best way to say my name and its wrong anyway. lol. i'm used to it.
