  1. To clip wings you can use any type on sccisors.

Only cut 10 feathers that are on the last layer and near the tip of the birds wings.

although some people leave 1-2 feathers on the tips.

  3. if your are askin how ..u need someone else to do it...u can cut a blood feather and then u would have to take him/her to the vet

  4. Primary feathers are clipped with scissors to keep birds from getting airbourne, but there wings will not be useless. This should not be done by the owner unless they have alot of experience with birds. I take my parrot to a groomer, but i used to take her to the grooming center at petsmart. its better to take them to a place that sells birds or is known for handling them. It is pretty cheap also.

  5. All you need is to take your bird in a towel and clip the LONG Feathers only right at the bottum of the next sized wings.

  6. PLEASE leave wing clipping to someone who is trained and/or has lots of experience doing it!!

A bird can BLEED TO DEATH if a blood feather is cut and you don't know how to remedy that situation quickly. It might take more than a little stop-bleed powder.

A bird that gets a bad, severe clip will crash to the floor - HARD- when it tries to fly.  This can result in bruising of the keel bone, or worse!  Be ready for vet costs, IF the bird survives at all.

A bird who suffers through a bad clip often gets irritated and can resort to over grooming the wing areas and even start plucking.  Once a bird starts plucking, it's nearly impossible to stop them!

Take your birds to the vet, a pet store that sells birds, or to a local bird breeder -- anyone with lots of *experience*.  Don't do it yourself!!

  7. Wing clip is clipping the ends of the birds wing feathers so he cannot fly.  Use scissors...If you have never done it before, don't try to follow directions from people here.  Some will tell you how, but have never done it before.  Take your bird to a petstore or the vet and have them show you how to do it.  It will not cost much.  Then keep your birds wings clipped for his own safety.  Please read my profile.
