What is usually a crop duster's second occupation, since they only fly for a season?

  1. I drive a truck, but like someone else said, a lot of guys make enough to not have to work.  They can spend the winters in warmer weather.  I don't want to go south, and I can't just sit around all winter.  I would get bored.


  2. Usually flight instruction or A&P mechanic.  Sometimes truck drivers

  3. I know a few of these guys and alot of them are journeyman workers....it's growing season somewhere all the time and they just move from job to job, wherever the work is.....

    those that don't will usually instruct or fly charters or other flying jobs until the season comes in if they are tied down to a particular area

  4. I grew up in the San Joaquin Valley of California.  Due to the variety of crops peaking at different times of the year March -September, the couple of 'dusters' I knew made enough money to sustain them through the winter.
