  1. It's just a drink. Literally means "a little sip" and can mean anything alcoholic, but specially grappa and more rarely wine, because wine is called "ombra" (which literally means "shadow").


  2. I am often in Venice and can tell you that it is akin to the Spanish "tapa" or foods that you get served while drinking at the bar. Sometimes it's free but often times you have to pay. Cicchetto (singular), cicchetti (plural) can be anything from baby octopus to deep fried breaded meat balls.... all great stuff!
