  1. It depends on what kind of viscosity you are talking about.

There is the dynamic (or absolute) viscosity (η) which is measured in Poise : 1 P = 1 g/cm/s.

It can also be measured in Pascal second (SI units) : 1 Pa.s = 1 kg/m/s

And there is the kinematic viscosity (ν = η/ρ), where and ρ is the density (in g/cm^3). It is measured in stockes : 1 stokes = 1 cm2•s−1

Viscosity is measured with a viscometer. The active part of the portable viscometer is a vibrating rod held in oscillation by a constant electrical power. The vibration amplitude varies according to the product viscosity where the rod is immersed.

  2. centipoise

  3. Reynolds numbers,  named after Osborne Reynolds. Oh wait thats viscosity and resistance to inertia....

  4. Or, for something really thick, Poise.  It can also be in KU units (Krebs units).

  6. punch a hole in the bottom of a can

dump in water ,time how long it takes to drain.

dump in maple syrup time it

    that is viscosity

a ratio of a subance to water

  7. The correct SI unit of viscosity is the Pa.s. The most usual unit is the mPa.s
