  1. Wetlands are what the name suggests.  They're humid areas of land that are filled with water, support flora and are usually the transition zone between terrestial areas (land) and marine areas. They're different from lakes because lakes are not transitional; they're water bodies and they do not support as many plants as wetlands. These include swamps, bogs, marshes and moors.
