What is windows aero?

ok so i hear that there is a difference bettween windows vista home basic and home premium is that premium has aero. what is this. what does it do. thanks.

It is a memory hog that essentially is a bells and whistle feature I would turn off

It is CONSTANTLY doing gee-whiz c**p that you do not need

It's the graphics.  The borders around the open screens are transparent.  This allows you to see what is behind.
