  1. A service pack installs many many updates and (sometimes) significantly changes the basse operating system with the intent of making it more stable and secure. Performance/speed is sometimes increased as well. You should be able to easily find Vista SP1 on microsoft's website

  2. yes, this is an update. has your computer said that you need this udpate? usually there is an automatic system search for updates and it will tell you if you need to DL it and where to DL it. however, if you know that you have to get the service pack, i think it is here...

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windo...

or search microsoft.com if that is not for the right Vista.

  3. Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is an update to Windows Vista that addresses feedback from customers. In addition to previously released updates, SP1 contains changes focused on addressing specific reliability and performance issues, supporting new types of hardware, and adding support for several emerging standards. Windows Vista SP1 also addresses some management, deployment, and support challenges.

  4. Windows Vista is an update which includes a number of small updates, and a few others all in one package.

You can get it by going to start>all programs>windows udpate.

This just helps solve some issues with your machine, patches security flaws, and allows your computer to see 4GB of RAM inside it.

It is usually highly recommended that you download service packs.

  5. You should already have the service pack 1.

Service pack two is not out yet.

    and yes they are updates.
