What is with footballers now picking really high numbers for their kits?

Has it become some sort of a fashion statement? lol. Shevchenko has number 76 now at Milan, Ronaldinho 80, Quaresma picked 77 at Inter, Flamini 84. Any other ones I don't know of or don't remember?

Maybe they're picking this up from American football.....NOOOOOO!

It is because they are nice and not taking the numbers already taken at those teams, while still somewhat keeping their favorite number.

Hmm all I can say is Cassano chose 99 and so had Ronaldo before, Cassetti at Roma had 77 already, Lucarelli had 99 etc

I would pick  9,745 and a fourth.

That way you don't have to "live up" to players that have played with that number in that club [Not really but in a way]
