What is with the Dragons???????

My husband and I and our two kids are pretty big Dragons supporters, but (and I think I speak for a lot of other fans too) we are really frustrated with the 'hot & cold' performances. Do you think there will be a great difference under new direction next year, or do you think it will be more of the same thing? I'd love to hear what others think. GO THE DRAGONS!!!

  1. You're a lil picky aren't ya... the Steel Dragons are only just out of the 8, it's not like they are frustration worthy just yet.

A new coach and a more positive atmosphere should make the St George Illawarra boys more competitive next year, Bennett should have a major influence on them. Brown isn't a NRL coach, he's a U16's coach and he's demise has been a long time coming.

I'd still be worrying about this season though... they are still in it.

  2. they will still be c**p next year

    sorry

  3. They've been hot and cold for years so I highly doubt it's going to change and you have to expect to go through life with either grey hairs or a dodgy ticker due to being a Dragons supporter.

That being said, I would hope that Bennett brings some discipline with him... Dragons need it.

  4. I think it is the training and selection methods used by St George and Illawarra as the junior teams, with the exception of the U/20's, are the same in being hot and cold.  They also select only players that they favour, rather than players who may have better ability, because of many close relationshsips within both clubs.  That is, a relative or friend's son given preference over a player with more ability.   I am involved with Illawarra football myself and have seen many better players overlooked or, if they do get chosen, they are given roles that differs from their playing skills. Maybe a change by Bennet will see some of these practices removed.

  5. I'm not a Dragon supporter, but I feel the same. They can have a fantastic game and then bomb the next week. I don't think new direction will help, I think the players there are in the wrong mind-set and not until the senior players retire will there be any change.

  6. i think wayne bennetts job (apart from coaching week to week) is to build a sucsessfull club, kinda like what brian smith is doing for the knights, he also did it for the eels he was there for ten years and they only missed the semi's twice!

you wont see sucsess overnight, but he will lay the foundations (player recruitment, getting the best juniors in the area that sort of stuff) for a very sucsessfull club in the near future, so stay loyal ,the dragons will go alright with wayne steering the ship!

  7. With the squad they had a couple of seasons back, when Barrett was playing, they should have won the premiership.  They didn't.

Nathan Brown was never a good choice for coach.

Now they are a mixture of youth and experience and hot and cold.  Gasnier's over rated and Cooper's not.

They might make the finals, but have an early exit.
