What is with the increasing amount of " am i pretty" questions?

there are like three times the amount there were last month. And i know it makes them feel better about themselves, but cant they just believe they are pretty by themselves? What if someone says that they are ugly? And the possibilty of stalkers

It's kinda silly the fact that these girls are in fact very pretty and actually have to ask the question. I blame the media. The media has presented their idea of beautiful and every young mind is wondering "do I fit in with that?" hopefully they find themselves and start being beautiful in their own way instead of what the media wants.

Because as the media puts more and more pressure on girls to look perfect, they're self esteems are sailing lower and lower. They use these questions to feel a little bit better about themselves.

i think most girls who ask the question feel that they are pretty and want others to agree with them.. it's pretty lame because a pretty face doesn't always mean you're a good person (which is of course just as subjective as beauty)-- but it is annoying when young girls post their picture all over the internet asking for attention about their looks-- also very unsafe!

ha ive been wondering that for a long time. i guess its just to maybe raise their self esteem and make them feel a little better. i dont think its a good idea at all to put pictures of yourself on the internet for any reason. they shouldnt ask other peoples advice of whether they are pretty or not..everyone's different!

adolescent girls need reassurance of their looks before starting high school so that they can not kill theme selves when they get turned down by the pre-pubescent boy they like turns them down

Because of mean people, who often use words to control or hurt others, some people, myself included, can feel less than atrractive based on one or two idiots' statements.  But i could not envision asking strangers for their opinion.

i always try to make them feel good. which usually they are pretty. and yes some people do say they are ugly but they are mostly being mean. the possibility of stalkers is very slim as they could be reported to authorities and the like.

You're totally right. WHy should someone need a stranger to tell them that they are pretty or not just to be sure. And the risk of stalkers isn't even considered. Some girls port inappropriate photos of themselves and its very wrong.

If you believe you're pretty hen you are, and if you don't, then you're not. You put yourself through so much trouble just to be sure. Plus, most girls say, "I'm not insecure of my apparel, just curious."

Some people want to know if they're pretty to complete strangers, cause in school full of complete strangers they want to be nice looking. its just what teens do.
