I really don't like dance music and I'd rather listen to The Beatles anyday. Why is it sooo popular? I mean what about Kina Grannis and Kate Voegele. They're excellent. Why are people soo in love with dance music? Opinions on the subject are welcome.

  1. Music always goes in stages and is always dictated by teenage girls (who spend the most money on music).  That has ALWAYS been the downfall of music and it just isnt today!  New Kids on the Block, Backstreet Boys, NSync, the Jonas Brothers......these guys are household names while better musicians go unheard of.  It is a crime, but it isnt likely to change any time soon.

There is always good music to be found...old and new...you just have to dig through what babysitters are buying and what MTV is selling.

  2. everyone is intitled to their own opinion of music, personally i'm not really into dance but just because you don't like them doesn't mean they should too

  3. i think they just like it because it shows off the bass amp in there pimped up cars. yer feel the boom. its pretty sad really and dance music is always the same line over and over i mean that bass hunter song was practically just no your gone repeated over and over

  4. It does seem to be a really popular genre, and to me most of it seems to have zero talent in it, like some of the singers have their voices altered and the music itself is often just computer generated sounds. The same goes for a lot of rap and r & b too, although i do listen to kanye west and beyonce occasionally.

I just want to say im a 15 year old girl and rock and indie music is my favorite, don't even get me started on artists (well i dont really like to call them that) like jonas brothers and miley cyrus.

You cant beat classics like AC/DC, Johnny Cash, Elvis, Jimi Hendrix, The Jam, Kinks, The who and s*x pistols

  5. people just do there own thing and go by there taste and so not listen to any other kinds they do not explore or evan listen to the words or music I enjoy a lot of music and artists and the beatles are great all time favourites

  6. I hate dance music !! :]

  7. lol believe me i know many ppl who feel the same

    music today is RUBBISH FACT

the sixties, seventies and eighties will ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED

in 20 yrs time NO1 will respect anything thats out today modern music is MEANINGLESS... and many ppl know it :) im eighteen i couldnt care less about bands/singers today they BORE THE c**p OUTTA ME

our generation has been completely deprived of any great movements in music seriously wish i was born decades earlier

i'll be listening to the beatles, led zep, the smiths, the clash, jimi hendrix and janis jops till the day i die :) nothing wrong with that

  8. yeah im 20 and i prefer older music anyday usually most dance music is old songs anyway such a keira greens all out of love was air supply, and i hate rap half way through songs they cant sing its c**p,

i like the beatles one of my fav songs id, picture yourself on a boat by the river, of tangerine trees and marmelade skys... you answer quite slowly the girl with kelieescope eyes, lucy in the sky with diamonds

led zeppelin, acdc, queen, iron maiden, guns and roses, cream, deep purple, the who there are loads of other songs as well

  9. I totally agree. I can't stand dance music. I wish I could offer you an explanation on it's popularity but I haven't a clue.

  10. we all have different tastes.. dude

    :)

  11. sadly people are very susceptible to the power of suggestion.  things get popular because people with money and influence push certain kinds of music onto people, and the zombies think "well if everyone else likes it, it must be good!"

  12. I partially agree. Today's *mainstream* music sucks. If you're willing to dig deeper you'd find that today's music is not bad at all.

  13. I don't know. Everything would have been perfect if key figures in musical history, like John Lennon and Kurt Cobain, hadn't died.

  14. This is asked a lot. You need to look outside of mainstream radio to find some really good music. The 'Net has plenty of great, unsigned artists & bands. So it's not all bad today...good thing for the web- we have easier access to more music..& fast. :)

I think after the rock of the 60s & 70s (& the disco era) ended, we shifted from more rockin to more rhythm. so by the late 80s rap/hip hop took over the scene...which leadsd us to where we are now. Dance-oriented music dominating the charts.

    I guess. :)

  15. If hate your generation's dance music why try skating,roller-skating.    Learn to move to the music.    You'll have to go through the rest of your life without the romance of music.
