What is worse, a fractured or broken bone?

A frriend of mine fractured her pelvis and a bone in her back after a fall. Is one worse than the other to heal?

  1. They are one and the same.

    A fracture, by definition, is a break.

    Mind you, there are a number of different TYPES of fractures, some more severe than others.

    As a break and a fracture are just different words for the same thing, it is not possible for one to be worse than the other except, only, in type of fracture.

    Sorta like "water" and "dihydrogen monoxide."  One just sounds more scientific, but they're the same.

  3. Yep! a break is worse than a fracture. A break is where the bone actually breaks in half i guess you would say. and i fracture is when the bone cracks. Although even a fracture is a crack it still really hurts and will take time to heal, but shes lucky its not a break. i hope this helped you:)
