Pretty much everyday I have a sugar-free rockstar energy drink. My wife thinks the other chemicals and the caffeine are bad for my body, yet she drinks soda loaded with sugar.

Which is worse?

  1. hey,

bottom line is they're both pretty bad for you.

energy drinks have the maximum amount of energy you would need for a day so taking them everyday plus all the other foods you eat isn't very safe and can lead to dangerous things.

sodas arent that good for you either.

but if i had to choose it would be soda, but one every 2-4 months.

  2. Most anything that is "sugar free" is using artificial sweetner...and anything artificial is BAD for your body. Switch to a different energy drink, one with more vitamins (B6,B12, C, etc.) If you can find it, try BURN. More good stuff means less jittery and no crash.

Soda is poison...plain and simple. Regular or Diet, it doesn't really matter. Sugar has a euphoric effect on the brain, and too much of it can cause a dependency. Artificial sweetners are basically poison for the human body, but at least some energy drinks have SOME good stuff in them, which is more than can be said for soda.

  3. I am on your wife's side on this one (although both are bad).  The sugar alternatives mess with your body's ability to digest sugar because normally when you have something sweet, your body works to breakdown and digest the sugar.  However, when you have sugar alternatives, your body learns that it no longer needs to kick into high-gear when you have something sweet.  Therefore, if you have a piece of cake, with real sugar that needs to be broken down, your body won't react properly because it learned to no longer react to the sweets.  So, that is why those studies say that diet sodas cause people to gain weight.  Not sure if my explanation made sense, but sugar-free really isn't good.  The best bet - water!

  5. Hmmm... neither choice is a healthy one and it really depends on which sugar substitute you are using. It is thought that saccharin may cause cancer when used in extremely high amounts. Aspartame has been linked with the development of brain tumors. Sucralose contains a type of chlorine known to be toxic and to cause cancer.  Also with the way your body works you produce insulun for both but it is only used on the sugar this causes an imbalance in your system.  Me personally I think I'd take the sugared soda hopefully something like 7-up and try not to drink it more than twice a month.  At least you'd have less side effects to tend with.   Try the article below in the source guide.

  6. Listen to your wife. Synthetic chemicals are foreign to your body. These chemicals are taxing to your body and should be avoided.

However, both drinks are bad for you. Too much sugar can lead to diabetes, obesity and other health problems. Try a nice glass of water and some raw fruits for an energy boost.

  7. Usually the sugar-free energy drinks have aspertame in them which is a sweetening chemical that isn't too good for you, so I would say that the soda would be better for you since it just has normal sugar in it. But, in the long run they are both bad for you.

  8. Regular soda pop in moderation, would be healthier.

  9. both!

just stick to drinking things like:

water, flavored water, and maybe some iced tea from lipton tea or regular tea!
