What is worse......?

Honestly think about it.

Would you rather your team to lose in the first round in 7 games. OR would you rather them make it all the way to the SCF's and then get swept?

I started thinking about this mainly today after my fear kicked in. My biggest fear in the world right now is getting sweeped by DetrIOT (I'm mis-spelling DetrIOT wrong due to superstition I have).

So what's worse?

Wow this is a hard one.... i mean making it all the way to the finals is ausome but then getting swept!!! and  having a hard faught round one but ending up losing! i have no idea what to pick honestly.... but if i had to pick i think i would want my team to make it to the finals then get swept!

Worse is 7 games in the first round, depending on the team's expectations.  I remember in 95 when Detroit went to the SCF and got swept by NJ.  It was disappointing, but I was happy that they made it that far, still won the West.  There is nothing to be happy about your team losing in the first round.  Unless they were the 8 seed and took it to 7 games, and had no business being there in the first place.

Kate the wings won't sweep the pens.  Using present tense here.  The Pens won't sweep the wings either.  before any red wing fans get upset.  It will be a six or seven game series based on detroit's track record it seems at least six is likely.  As for the Pens yes I know they have won in 4 against ottawa and five against the rangers and flyers but taking down detroit won't be easy.  Which is worse is losing a game 7 because like the caps fan pointed out you wonder should they have advanced.  The Pens track record makes me think losing is not likely.  Besides I would take Crosby, Malkin, and Hossa right now.  Detroit may have better defensemen but the pens defensive system has worked quite well so far.  Not just because of Fleury's stats but also because of the team stats.  I hate to cross sports but I look at it this way Minnesota Vikings have gotten to a first playoff game and lost whereas the buffalo bills lost in the super bowl four times.  Would you rather be minnesota who recently hasn't tatsed glory or buffalo who has had their chances but fallen short.

I think getting swept in the Stanley Cup finals is definitely worse. I would honestly be haunted if that ever happened to the Leafs. You come so far, and it's much more real when your in the Stanley Cup finals.

Sorry I wouldnt give up watching them win rd1 and rd2 and The Conference Finals just cause they would get swept in the finals. I woud be happier seeing my team make it farther and getting to watch them for a longer period of time.

since my team has done both of those 10 years apart (caps SCF 98 and then this year lost in 7) I think losing in game 7 is worse becuase you know you could've gone further and its much more fun as a fan to see more games as they advance. I only got to see 2 playoff games this year at verizon, i got to see 6 when the caps went to the scf in 98 much better

ur all thinkin about the image of the team. a bad playoff finish wont make fans stop watching, so that doesnt matter. with either loss, ur season is over with no ring to show off, so think ahead now. id take the 1st round loss because that way, we get an earlier draft pick and the team can grow more.

Getting swept is worse, but losing in 7 games hurts more because the team was THAT close. If they're that close, I'll know they put up a good fight. I'd rather my team lose 4-1 in a series. Winning even 1 game in the Stanley Cup Finals is impressive, in my opinion. EDIT: EDIT: EDIT: OH, OH, WAIT... I misread your question. LOL.

i would say making it all the way to the SCFs and getting swept. if a team makes it that far, it's almost like a testament to the effort the team put in in making it that far. getting swept would be devastating after all that hard work.

If anyone is going to sweep anybody it's going to be the Pens sweeping the Wings,  don't worry about it!

(BTW- sweeped is not a word, it is "swept"... just trying to help a brother out, not make him look bad, in the event you did not know I was spreading to you some knowledge.  We can never stop improving ourselves!)

Um  I think making to the SCF's is an accomplishment, so if they got swept in the SCF's I'd be ok with it. I think its a great deal to make it this far, so.

going all the way and getting swept in worse... think about it, that's sort of an embarrassment. You go in, no cocky - but you're supposed to be the best of the east/west, and you can't even win one game in the last series.

I would rather my team lose in 7 games in the first round. When your team makes it all the way to the finals you build up all kinds of confidence for them and your rooting them on hardcore, and then to see them lose after getting that close to the cup is just a hugh blow and is devastating.
