If the truth is going to hurt someone badly, I guess a white lie is the next best thing.

A white lie is still a lie and the truth is the most likely the best thing you could do even if you get in trouble or hurt somebody.

Depends upon the logical probable consequencies of either choice. Be careful not to rationalize lying though, it's an easy habit and the path to duplicitousness on every level (even with yourself)

if you really think the truth is going to hurt somebody, you could avoid talking to them about whatever it is. but don't lie about it...if theres a difference between avoiding the truth and directly lying

it really depends on the situation....but if yor white lie is discovered than you will lose the trust of the person you told the lie. but i guess a white lie is usually better. what u dont know cant hurt you.

It depends how terrible the truth is, if it is something that would really hurt someone, as bad as it is, its necessary to tell just a little white lie, or tell a more sugar coated version of the truth

the only time i think a person should lie - is if somebody's life depends on it. For all else, tell the truth.
