What is wrong?

I have been running Lavasoft Ad-aware 2008 and running a Full Scan it stopped part way through, so I ran Smart Scan and it cleared out a load of Spyware. I then tried a Full Scan again and it stopped similarly to before. This has happenend previously, but before I could shut Ad-aware down by closing the window on x. I eventually closed it down using Task Manager, but it took a long, long time.

This time nothing would happen and it took ages to open a new homepage.

Could someone please tell me what problem is and/or the solution, as I guess it will get worse.

Not really sure all I can suggest is completely removing Ad-aware and reinstalling it.

Or install a more powerful program like SuperAntiSpyware - http://www.download.com/SUPERAntiSpyware...

It sounds like some files on your ad-ware protection has become corrupted. You may need to uninstall and reinstall it. to be safe. restart in safe mode and uninstall in control panel add remove programs. Then start computer and install your protection again. make sure your windows firewall is on when you start up your computer
