I was riding my jet ski then all of a sudden it lost a little of its power and slowed down then died. I tried to restart it, and it wouldn't even turn over. I charged the battery, it has gas and oil. It will not turn over, and when i try to start it makes a clank noise then nothing.

  1. Racing mechanics had noted that the GSX's stock oil injection pump was considered to be on the lean side and could possibly cause engine failure (piston siezure) if the throttle were held wide open for extended periods of time.  For wide open running, it was suggested that the pump setting be adjusted to allow more oil into the engine to prevent siezing.

A quick inspection is to pull the spark plugs and look to see if there are any metal deposits (typically a shiney, powdery looking coating, or sometimes metal particles in severe siezures) on them.  If so, this would have come from excessive friction between the piston and the cylinder wall indicting the oil pump failed to provide enough lubricant.

  2. Sounds like a broken rod.

Pull the plugs and see if it turns over, then remove the shaft cover and try and turn by hand. Try and turn forward and backward.

It sounds like it's gonna be costly!

  3. ya it could be sparks or carbs or maybe its not getting fuel, check the fuel lines make sure they arent blocked
