Question:

What is wrong with American tennis players?

I mean the men didn't even make it past the third round at Wimbledon. And don't get me started on the French Open. If they do this poorly at the US Open, Americans might as well not show up at the grand slams anymore. I miss the good old days of Sampras, Agassi, etc...

  1. in my opinion, i think that americans don't think tennis is a good sport. they are more interested in football, basketball, or hockey.

  2. i think its the commitment..many euros sacrifice everything and it seems like they have a bigger crave for success than us americans..also defiantly the footwork and strategy.

  3. Other countries simply have better tennis players. It's as simple as that. Tennis popularity in the U.S. may be a small reason (Americans are more into football, basketball, and baseball) but it probably isn't the only reason (just look at countries like China where the sport is huge yet has a surprisingly small amount of world-class players).

Honestly, I feel that if the US is going to get to the top, its not going to be vets like Roddick or Blake that get us there. Some fresh blood is definitely needed.

And having freakishly good players out there like Federer and Nadal doesn't really help us either...

  4. EVERYTHING! they're fat, ugly and annoying. lol no jokes.

there's nothing wrong with them. It's just that the players from these previously poor countries have been more motivated from younger ages, have sacrificed more and are more dedicated.

  5. ya but this is also contributed to the lack of varity in the tennis courts do you realize we have all hard courts there very few clay or grass courts , and the ppl think tennis is g*y

  6. I guess we all have to wait for another 10 years to see an American Grand Slam champion since all of the so-called-up-and-coming stars like Sam Querrey or Donald Young do not look like future champions to me.

You wanna see a future champion in the making? Earnest Gulbis! Remember that name, one day he will send that Djoker back to the circus where he belongs :))

  7. actually, you need to think from a different perspective.

America's not getting worse, other countries are just getting BETTER

take serbia, this year it churned out 4  "vics" well in the top 40

    Djokovic, Ivanovic, Jankovic, Tipsarveric

don't get down, there are many up and coming players like sam querry and john isner. andy and blake are still gonna be here awhile so keep your hopes up!

  8. This is reality of sport like in other sports one team dominates for a while then other team dominates same thing is happening in Tennis. Americans dominated the sport for quite some time with Pete, Agassi, Davenport, Evert like before them Germany Domionated tennis with only two players Becker and Steffi. Some time back Belgium dominated women's tennis with Justine and Kim, then Russian brigade of Maria, Elena and bunch of girls took over now Serbians are dominating tennis. Soon some other country will produce 3 to 4 good players and some country after that. Tennis has always been like this don't worry Americans will strike back soon may in 4-5 years when Federer and Nadal will loose their touch.
