What is wrong with David Duchovny?

— David Duchovny has entered a rehabilitation facility for s*x addiction.

In a statement released Thursday by his lawyer, Stanton Stein, the actor said he did so voluntarily, adding: "I ask for respect and privacy for my wife and children as we deal with this situation as a family."

The actor's publicist, Flo Grace, confirmed the rehab report, which first appeared on People.com.

She and Stein both declined to elaborate further.

Duchovny, 48, plays a s*x-obsessed character on the Showtime series Californication, which earned Emmy nominations for casting and cinematography. The show's second season begins Sept. 28.

"All of us at Showtime wish David and his family the best during this very private time," the network said in a statement.

The actor appeared in the film The X Files: I Want to Believe earlier this summer. He has been married to actress Tea Leoni since 1997. They have two children.

Why do you need rehab for this?

Does this mean David has been cheating on Tea ?

Yes he's been cheating on Tea. That's what s*x addicts do. Hallie Berry's first hubby was a s*x addict, and so was/is Charlie Sheen. His character on Two and 1/2 Men is obviously not much of a stretch. Love the show though. Apparently people do need therapy for it.

People need rehab for this because its an addiction. David is addicted to s*x, meaning all he ever thinks about is s*x. Its not really like being addicted to drugs, but it can be just as bad mentally. It doesn't mean he has cheated on Tea, it just means he needs help.

Because an addiction to anything gets in the way of living a normal, healthy life. I think it is assumed that he has been cheating.
