What the h**l is going on here? Blaming a jockey for injuring a horse what'd he do jump of the horse and break both ankles with his riding crop? Is PETA wrong here or are they just looking for more recognition and a way to bring themselves deeper into the public eye?

  1. i support peta but sometimes they do take things too far. i dont think it is right to blame the jockey for Eight Belles death. it was an accident. i think they should focus on how these horses are bred at such a young age.

  2. They're a bunch of freaks who are exploiting the Eight Belles tragedy to try to get attention for themselves and probably donations so that they can misappropriate the money.

  3. I think Peta has gone over the edge

  4. What the h**l is going on here? Why don't you and all the other STUPID answerers get a clue? PETA is a noble organization, made up of the very few people in this world who have respect for other living creatures. What they represent is decency and compassion, possibly a foreign term to you all. Watch the race. The 20 year old jockey was as stupid and selfish as the poor horse's trainer and owner. He was whipping the horse and egging her on AFTER the d**n race was done. He's a moron and should never be allowed to race again.

  5. They're stupid.  They want to let all the animals go run free wild in the street.  They're so concerned about "saving" the horses, they don't care about what they're doing to the people involved in this.  They try to look like they're the compassionate ones and really they're trying to destroy Gabriel's career.

Peta looks for any way they can to make themselves the center of attention.  They're not looking for ways to make animals lives any better... They're just trying to get attention for themselves.  They're a bunch of hypocrites and they make the real animal rights activitists who are trying to do good for the animals (like Humane Societies and the ASPCA and such) look bad.

  6. PETA's nuts.  They have the whole "holier than thou" attitude and think no one should own pets...but somehow that doesn't apply to them.

I don't support PETA at all.

  7. They are making press releases that will get people to make donations.

That is ALL that Peta is about..

Look at their website's annual report:

    http://www.peta.org/feat/annualreview/nu...

Can you see ANYTHING that they actually DID this year, other than raise money?

They spayed/neutered 300 pit bulls, and 440 feral cats at a discount.

That is out of $31.4 million in revenues..Pretty expensive spay..huh?

  8. It is PETA, do you honestly expect anything less from them.

Any sane person who has seen what happened would see that it is no way the jockeys fault.  I feel bad for the guy, he's only 20 years old.

  9. PETA is a group of extremists who use Animal Rights as their excuse for their form of terrorism much as Al Qaeda uses Isllam as the excuse to hide its terrorism behind.

In some cases, PETA actions have actually CAUSED animals great suffering and painful deaths such as when they release captive bred animals such as mink, thinking they are giving these animals freedom when the animals have been captive bred for generations and don't know how to survive in the wild at all.

The jockey isn't to blame for Eight Belles breakdown at all.  If anything is to be blamed, it's linebreeding on Native Dancer, a horse that is in most Thoroughbred pedigrees...to quote "Native Dancer's line has a tragic flaw. Thanks in part to heavily muscled legs and a violent, herky-jerky running style, Native Dancer and his descendants have had trouble with their feet. Injuries have cut short the careers of several of his most famous kin, most notably Barbaro, a great-great-great-grandson who was injured during the Preakness Stakes and was later put to death.'

Barbaro, Eight Belles, Ruffian, all 3 of the best known horses that broke down, all with similar linebreeding in their pedigrees.

  10. People stopped wearing fur coats in public and PETA needed another "scapegoat" issue for which to anger honest, intelligent Americans.....

PETA is another group that consists of liberal leftist extremists..... They splash "red paint" symbolizing blood on people that wear leather or fur clothing..... They hold "die-ins" and practice civil disobedience when protesting stuff like "dead cockroaches", "circus animal behavior" or "bird habitats" are threatened.....

I feel sorry for the horse, but considering they cannot be easily "repaired" or fitted with prostetics like humans when broken limbs occur, freak accidents such as this and the one that occurred to Barbero are unfortunate, but PETA always has to point fingers and blame others when accidents do happen and the trainers/jockeys don't hurt their animals on purpose.

The world would be a better place if PETA and Greenpeace just concentrates on preserving the wildlife of the world and not wasting their time on issues that don't have to do with animal abuse.

  11. PETA is a BAD organization. They like putting themselves out there pretending they REALLY care but they don't. Just look at the court case back east where three PETA members were on trial for going into an animal shelter pretending to adopt some animal. They came out with them and then put them in plastic bags and then into the big trash can. They believe that NO ONe should have pets, period. They have even had kids at dog shows that go around and let out dogs from kennels. Two dogs got out alright, right onto a busy road and were killed by oncoming cars. Does this sound like a wonderfull organization,NO!!

  12. You said it best in your last statement- PETA is looking to raise money for their cause in any way they can. Most of the people who run that group are ignorant- and many of them are not very smart either, or they'd know that making a public scapegoat out of the jockey and trainer is not going to solve anything- nor will their calls for a ban on racing as a whole. PETA needs to get a life- and take a big reality check while they are at it.  Enough said.
