Can someone please tell me why Russia will not pull out of Georgia? Also, if Russia does not pull out of Georgia soon, do you think the US will send troops to Georgia to help fource them out?

You know, if there was a province or city in Mexico that was inhabited mostly by Americans, and the Mexicans decided to bomb it, and wipe out the Americans. Would you criticize the U.S. army for going in there to protect its citizens, and defending itself against the Mexican attack?

Then stop bi*tching about Russia. Seriously, is it that hard to look at issues objectively and actually understand both sides? Anyone who's saying Russia is an evil soviet empire etc. needs to turn off their political propaganda.

Russia thinks that the Sovereign nation of Georgia belongs to Russia.

The best help that the United States can give Georgia is sophisticated military equipment that can take out Russian tanks and shoot down Russian planes.

Russian planes and tanks are rather primitive and are no match for modern United States weapons systems.

With the proper equipment the Georgians could destroy the Russian tanks and other military hardware.

Russia is making a statement to the US just flexing a little bit they have too much to lose by staying

They are pulling out of the non-disputed territories slowly enough to make sure no one on the other side can claim they won any sort of victory.

They will never leave South Ossetia or Abkhazia. In the chess game, we took their pawn (Kosovo) and now they got it back (South Ossetia) and got another one (Abkhazia) to come out slightly ahead.

Showing military might the way the US did in Iraq. Nothing else, business as  usual, remember the Russian were in Afghanistan first.

They are not pulling out because they have no discipline and this is the real reason. They have been given orders and the troops just do not listen. Russians are bad soldiers and they are as worthless as t*ts on a boar pig and what the world has seem is that their military forces and hardware are allot worse off as they thought prior to this invasion.

That's a fair question...It's probably very similar to why the Us has not left Iraq, or why the Us has not left Korea, or Germany, or Japan...etc

Maybe they are afraid that if they pull out, Georgia will regroup and attempt another unprovoked attack on South Ossetia, killing more Russian citizens.  I don't think the US will go to war with Russia over Georgia.

Russia's leaders are a bunch of commie KGB guys who I consider to be evil.  The Soviet Union collapsed due to bankruptcy and now that they have money (and oil) and got some bucks, they are flexing their muscles again.  Russia is patroling our Alaskan and Wester coast lines, too.  The Cold War is starting up again and if Russia continues to meddle with Georgia and other old republics like Ukraine, we could be looking at WWIV (If you count the cold war as WWIII).

It could get quite ugly.  You might want to have a bomb shelter installed in your backyard.

My guess is that Russia considers the Post-Soviet states (Georgia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Estonia, etc.) as a part of Russia.

I agree with Kevin J. If Russia decides to stay in Georgia for 100 years, then under what moral authority should the US demand them to withdraw?. After all, the US did the same in many countries.
