What is wrong with a 96 Infiniti I30 if it will not start and makes a clicking noise when you turn the key?

There is a starter switch at the back of the igintion.  It is a cheap replacement.  You just have to take the steering wheel covers off.   It is easy to replace.  I just started working on cars and was surprised at the ease of it.  It is a common problem with this make and year of car
