What is wrong with a guy trying to be feminine?

I am trying to figure out what is wrong with a guy who wants to be feminine. My years might be off, but lets say 100 years ago, it was unusual for a woman to wear a pair of jeans. So if as a guy love to crossdress and wear panties, bra, skirt, make up and may even shave my legs, what is wrong with that.

I know that I can wear what I want to, but why is it hard to be accepted.

Because of societys pressure, should I thus give up wearing panties, skirt or my favorite 3 inch red peep toe heels?

  1. THere is a great This American Life that touched on this subject.  You should look it up.  It might help you out.  Search through the archives. It's called Sissies.

  2. Perhaps it’s because you’re a guy, it does not seem gender correct, at least according to society.  One would say that you are represent the abnormal minority and and therefore, MOST people will not show you any respect.  Hey, whatever floats your boat…. =P

  3. Because society has not learned to respect other peoples taste, style, and/or personal life.

Just as society deems its unacceptable for men to resort to such fashion trends as sagging pants.

With cross dressing, most people are so concentrated by how "gross" it is to them, they consider it inappropriate. With pants sagging, society is so concentrated on stereotyping everyone who does it by labeling them a "gang member", when often times these stereotypes are untrue.

I look at it this way, do what you want, because GOD never told the human race there was a certain way we are supposed to dress.

  4. Honey there is nothing wrong..you do what you want and society be damned!

  5. Because being feminine is wrong, at least according to society.  Think about it.  If a girl plays with "boys'" toys like trucks or GI Joes, it's generally accepted. If a boy plays with a doll, he's ridiculed or possibly beaten.

It's okay for women to wear pants, but not for men to wear women's clothes.  It's okay for a girl to be a tomboy, but if a boy likes stereotypically feminine things, he's called worse things than 'tomboy'.

    It's very unfortunate.

  6. uh...well thats up to you...we cant tell you what to do, I would say that if you want to be accepted going out in public like this isnt the way to go, most people wont be too accepting of this behavior so if you want to continue doing it you might want to play dress up behind closed doors, otherwise you will have to face the stares of people and the critcism, but id you dont care thats cool too, but ultimately i say do what makes you happy as long as it isnt a sick obsession thats hurting yourself or others...do what you want

  7. Nobody is going to stop you.

But face it, you're the abnormal minority and people don't have to respect or be friends with you.

(maybe in 2108, but this is 2008).

  8. If you like to wear bras, panties, skirts, make-up, etc, go ahead and do so, why should personal taste in fashion or accessories be wrong?

About being accepted... yes, it is difficult sometimes and many people are hostile towards what they are unfamiliar with or can't control. But you have something that many people in other countries don't, the freedom to express yourself (without harming others), even in a society that has it's "gender roles". While there may be ignorance or discrimination towards some freedoms, there is also tolerance and/or support.

Freedom is not free, as is said. So, it is your choice to exercise it, knowing that there is a price. This pertains to all freedoms of expression.

And if you would like some additional make-over tips (from what you already know), I'd be more than glad to share my ideas.
