Since i installed the latest version of itunes (7.7.1) on my windows XP computer i haven't been able to connect to the itunes store or get CD track info.

I just get the message... Itunes could not connect to the itunes store. The connection network was refused. Make sure your network settings are correct and network connection is available then try again.

I tried running the diognostic test in itunes and it said secure link failed. Ive cleared the DNS cache and tried re-installing it.

=( lol can anyone help me? thanks x

  1. I'm running 7.6.1.9 and its fine.

See if you can get an older version and reinstall. Could be a bug with the latest version.

Also make sure your anti-virus software isn't blocking it.

  2. this sounds like you have a firewall issue thats blocking the port that the itunes store uses.

it needs the following ports free:-

52,53,4555,5291,6356,6385 and if using sharing of libraries:- 3689 & 5353

  3. You're crazy, you shouldn't be ordering tunes off itunes anyway. a work colleague of mine had their account details ripped off through it & their £250 allowance stripped within one hour of registering. Major security flaw, don't use it.

In answer to your question- This version has been causing problems everywhere with some users actually losing thier ipod catalogue after installing. See if you can uninstall it or run a system restore. I understand apple have now replaced this version with a new 1.1.0 (at least thats the latest I have, no major problems touch wood).]

Here's one user contributed vid to backup what I've stated:
