i've been trying to increase my matabolism FOREVER! everyone is giving me the wrong advice so...

what are some good easy ways to speed up your matabolism

example:drinking green tea

  1. It's great that you're trying to increase your metabolism. I just hope you're doing it the healthy way.

    There are numerous factors that play an important role in your metabolism. Your :

    - Age

    - s*x

    - Heredity

    - Any possible illnesses (I.E : thyroid disorders -- that 's a big one!)

    - Proportion of lean body mass

    Calculate your Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR). There's a link below to show you how to calculate your RMR. Your RMR will tell you how many calories you need to maintain your body at rest. Your daily consumption to maintain your weight should be:

    RMR x 1.15

    Adjust your diet accordingly to your RMR. You'll have to count calories.

    To lose weight safely, consume no more than your maintenance intake but no less than your RMR.

    Eat small frequent meals as opposed to waiting long periods of time, exercise (both weights & cardio!), drink plenty of water & get plenty of rest.


  2. Try eating 5-6 small meals a day and exercise.  The body stores calories when it thinks it is not going to get food for a while.  So you need to train your body to know that food is coming in more often, therefore it will not store as much.  

  3. Eat more frequently but in smaller proportions. Try 6-8 times a day. Three of which are half full meals. The rest being small snacks--by small I mean it--in between those. Eat fruits and vegetables. Reduce fat intake.

    Build and tone muscle. Lift weights. Exercise. Be more active. Don't just sit around doing nothing.

    Be patient. There is no particular food that will speed up your metabolism. There are no shortcuts.

  4. i occasionally take green tea pills which you can find at cvs, walgreens, stores like that

    excercise also helps boost your metabolism

  5. well if you go the doctor and do a test you can find out if it's low enough to take medication... I've been on medication for my matabolism for 5 years now.

  6. huh...you know im trying to decrease mine because its so freaking high...oh!!!!! i saw on tv, that if you exercise, it'll increase your metabolism! :D  

  7. Exercise!!! Fastest and most effective way! If you work out in the morning first thing, it will keep your metabolism high for hours on end, meaning you will be burning more fat and calories throught out the day than if you hadn't exercised at all. It's spelled Metabolism by the way! ;-))

  9. eat small meals every 3 or 4 hrs. Also, exercise will do it.
