  1. I was about to say that you finally lost your picture tube but you say you have no sound either. Is the rest of the TV on? i.e. can you see status LEDs or other signs of life? If no signs of life, it can be the power supply or power supply fuse which is still a modest repair. In any case, replacement Trinitrons on Craigslist are dirt cheap since nobody wants a CRT-style TV anymore in today's flatscreen era. Definitely cheaper than trying to repair your unit and you can negotiate with those sellers. The link below is an example for $55 for a big Sony but I wouldn't be surprised if you could reach $20 for a used one.

  2. Find a TV repair person or buy a new set.

This is all assuming you have confirmed the set is getting power through the outlet.

TV sets will not last forever and at 18 years, you have gotten a good long service life from this one. An 18 year old set may not be that easy to find parts for now, the set is analog and while it was great technolgy 18 years ago, it is pretty outdated now. The cost for a repair person today may be more than you should spend to fix this set.
