What is wrong with my 350 in my Chevy K/10?

I have a Chevy K/10 with a 350 in it and it runs fine until it warms up. When the engine is cold, it idles fine and there are no problems. When the engine warms up to temp. while I am driving it and I come to a stop and go to take off, it sputters a little bit and kind of back fires a little bit. As soon as I get moving though, it goes away. It only happens when I come to a stop and right when I give it gas it does it for a few seconds then runs fine. I am not sure what it could be, because it doesn't do it until it is warmed up.

  1. not enough info. is the ck eng light on?. how many miles are on it?what year is it?

  2. Well, it could be your carb and/or timing. Take a timing light to it just to make sure. A carb rebuild kit will cost about 20-30 bucks at the store and is not complicated.

  3. sounds to me like a classic case of vapor locking.  When you truck heats up the fuel line is probably running to close to an exhaust manifold or pipe and when you idle at operating temp, it gives the gas in the line a chance to expand into "vapors" explaining the term vapor lock.

Solutions- I have seen people who insulate their gas line with wooden clothes pins, but that's a stupid redneck way to do it, try getting some home AC hose insulator and running it up you fuel line, and zip tying your hose away from any heat source.  should help you out.

And the first dude who responded was a r****d, dodge and ford both kiss chevy's as*, at least back then

  4. depending on the year but i had the same problem with my truck 1986 it is a vacuum problem your choke pull-off is not working disconnect it and plug your line and it should work
