Question:

What is wrong with my Javascript?

No, it's not going to be fixed with tools > internet options > security, etc.. I've tried this at least twenty times.

This started about two weeks ago. Javascript has somehow been turned off, not just on my browser, but on my entire computer. Yahoo Messenger is completely bugged up, Youtube doesn't play any videos and just tells me that I need flash player updated or Javascript to be turned on.. I tried both these a bunch of times, but they don't work. I've also reinstalled Java several times with no luck.

Whenever I try to do something like play games that use Javascript, it gives me an error message saying "Error: Could not complete the operation due to error 800a01b6" And then it asks if I want to continue running scripts on the page.

Javascript isn't just turned off; it seems to be completely gone from the entire computer. Can anybody help me?

  1. In addition, JavaScript is not something stored on your computer.  The browser or an external security program controls whether JS runs or not when you view a web page using JS.

Java IS stored on your computer.

Problems with Flash not playing or any media player may be because of corrupted files or codecs.

  2. Go to control panel add/remove programs and check if you can repair your installation. In windows this might be under windows components.

Might want to try reinstalling your browser, but export your bookmarks first.

If you are still receiving the JavaScript error after you enable it, you should try completely uninstalling the Flash Player, then reinstalling the most recent version.

For instructions about how to "completely" uninstall a Flash Player, see this Adobe Help article (http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgeba...

If you don't have a Flash player installed, or you have just uninstalled the Flash player, download and install the latest Adobe Flash Player, which is available at the Adobe Flash Player Download Centre (http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/...

If you have tried both of the above steps and are still having issues playing videos, try clearing the browser cache and cookies on your computer.

If the instructions above don't resolve the issue, please try the following:

       1. Temporarily disable any popup blocking software installed on your computer to test.

       2. Allow in.youtube.com as a trusted site in your Firewall software.

       3. Ensure other applications like Quicktime, iTunes, Real Player or Windows Media Player aren't set as the default streaming application, as this might affect the video player.

    Windows Vista users:

If the flash uninstall/re-install does not work, this may be due to a Microsoft Windows Vista permissions issue.

Please use the Windows button at the bottom left-hand corner then the search function:

       1. Go to: C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash\

       2. Right-click the following file: FlashUtil9b.exe or FlashUtil9e.exe

       3. Select "Run as Administrator" and install the update.

       4. Restart your computer.
