What is wrong with my Koi fish : open wound, perhaps acting strange

My Koi fish is just beginning to grow, its only almost a year old. It is silver and black and pretty :) It is a more rambunctious little guy than anything, always acting crazy and whatnot.. so its usually hard for me to tell if its acting differently but earlier it was just kind of resting on the rocks.. which it never does. It seems to be a little more stupid I guess.. running into obstacles and walls.

The main thing that scared me is that it looks like one of its bigger scales just kind of fell off and now its open and red. It isnt verryyy big, maybe the size of a sunflower seed, but big enough to bother it I would imagine.

My sister had a betta fish back in the day and I remember it was losing its scales until she gave it medicine. Is this something similar to what my Koi fish is experiencing? Could it be the early stages of an ulcer?

just leav him n let him deal with it he can fight it off

my brothers betta beat the c**p outta mine and he

had missing fins and an eye and he was all bloody

and his skin was all grey and fuzzy

within a week he was fine and in 2 weeks

you can barley tell he was attacked

my dads an expert with fish and lizards n things like that

and the best thing to do is just let em bee you gotta let it

build up its emune system with ONLY the first injury

and if the second injury heals/gets better (not fully heald) in a day

then you dont need medicin if in a day it doesnt get better then your fish needs medecin with EVERY injury

you mixed a betta fish with koi that's not advisable.  quarantine your koi add rocksalt before the wound get infected. then separate the betta from the koi.
