Lately when I've tried starting my bike, I turn the key and all power seems to be there... but when I go to start it, it clicks once and all power is lost. But then 3 seconds later the power comes back on. I go to start it again and the same thing happens. Is it the battery? or something more serious? Im not sure what the symptoms of a bad starter is supposed to look or sound like.

  1. It can be many things. Check your battery. Check the connections are clean. Check the battery is full of water. Check the ignition switch, and start button. Does it have a switch on the kick stand? Does it have a netural safty switch. You see there are numerous things. We do not even know what bike you have. Provide more information.

  2. symptom,s point to dirty, corroded,or loose battery or cable connection,s...possible dead cell in battery but check your connection,s first..good luck!...if the connection,s are fine..put the bike in gear , remove the spark plug,s , then try to roll the bike to insure the engine is not seized...if you can get it to turn..then check the starter...a bad starter can blow a circuit breaker then it will reset only to do it again.

  3. if it goes off then on again its probably the battery. If a starter was shorted it would go off while you held the starter button only.

  4. The battery has insufficient power to turn your bike over - it takes much more power to turn the engine than it does to light the lights.

Chances are, if it's over a year or two old, that it needs replacing.

Try charging it first, though - might just be flat!

  5. When I had that problem it was because the positive cable was slightly loose.

  6. check all your connections before you buy anything

  7. maybe its a dodgey battery terminal or dodgey fuse connection. if it was the starter moter it would click and not loose power. good luck

  8. It seems like you have a loose connection in the ignition starter cables, these are wired to the key barrel.

    GDJ.

  9. Just a bad battery or battery connection.
