What is wrong with my caller id? A mystery?

We have been receiving calls from a company that has been calling several times a day -yet- the caller id only registered one of those calls late in the evening today and has sometimes registered no calls on other days. I can see the name and number of the company when they are calling but when I check the caller id later it is as if their calls have vanished. How is that possible? I am perplexed. All other calls seem to register properly. I would like to track this activity but my only evidence is now unreliable.

Hi lee:Since you do not identify whether the CID is a separate unit, built into a corded tel. or a cordless unit, I can only offer some general information.Once the CID information is received, it is stored in memory. If this is disappearing, I assume that the internal battery is bad. Some units have power supplied & if the power goes off you can lose the CID display. You may also have a defective unit.
