well i have two canaries, one male one female, and recently about 2 weeks ago,she started acting funny, she kept drooping her head down, she keeps falling off the perches, and she moves her head around in a funny way, its like she finds it hard to see the perches in front of her,she will stretch her neck out in front of her to see before jumping, she also has a couple of bald patches, one on her throught, and one on the bottom of her back, were her sexual organs are, the skin looks dry,she also seems very wobberly when on the perches, and when she sleeps, she doesent put her head on her back no more, she just lets it drop slowely to the side, the thing thats also bafferling me, is that she is still eating loads, and drinking, i hav been giving her a multivitamain drops in her water everyday, also been giving her moulting drops for the baldness which claims to help with vitality, both my birds are not handled, last time i had to grab the female to get a seed out of her eye,i put her back and she stayed on the bottom of the cage for about 30 mins, she looked like she was going to die, so ive never done it since, so that why im worried because iff i take her to a vet, they may hav to handle her,and i know she wont be able to take it,plus i know theres a limit on wat they can do for these type of birds,so is there anyone out there that knows these symptoms, and knows wat to do?

  1. Not an expert, but she is definitley in need of some Tweetment.

  2. You might not have a choice about taking her to the vet. Although it might be stressful for her, it's better than leaving her unwell hoping it will resolve itself. Why not contact a breeder first to see if they can shed any light on her behaviour?

  3. i would take her to the vet .... sounds like she got a problem with her neck... hope she better soon

  4. Bring her to a VET!
