What is wrong with my car 2003 for taurus?

My car has ran fine but today I went over railroad tracks very slow as to not hurt my car, and when I got over the tracks I had no transmission . It felt like my car was in neutral and could not go into gear. So we loaded it up on the trailer and brought it home. Not low on fluid or leaking at all. The car still starts up just fine. It never made like a rapping out noise or nothing either. PLEASE HELP
