What is wrong with my car radio?

I had my car broken into and my radio stolen. I got an used radio from a friend. We wired it up but there is no music. It comes on and just makes like a buzzing/static-like noise. The radio was working the last time it was used, and we double checked the ground wire.

  1. well I don't know for sure. But alot of times when a stereo is just pulled it can fry the foctory amp thats built into the dash.A way you can check is to hook a speaker straight to the back of the radiowhile hooked up.You always wannw make sure that the power is unhooked at the battery when messing with the radio for that reason. If it's the factory  amp you can just bypass it and just run new wires to the speakers from the stereo. If that don't do it then it's the stereo or maybe both.Hope this helps

  2. Make sure the antenna is connected.  Otherwise there is a connection problem, the radio is blown, or there is an amp in the system that is blown.

Radio electronics are delicate, and if you ground something in the wrong place even for a second, it can destroy the circuitry.

    Good luck!
