What is wrong with my child?

I have a 12 month old and she has a clear runny nose, sneezing and a little cranky. This has happened before where she had a runny nose for a couple days but didn't show any signs of a cold and it just went away. Could this be symptoms of teething? She just had 3 teeth coming in....could there be more or does she have a cold?

  1. Since it isn't the time of year to have a cold, I would guess that it would be teething.  You can give her some Tylenol to help with the teeth pain and the runny nose, and rub her gums with a cold cloth.  Give her a washcloth to chew on or a teething toy.

  2. Generally a clear runny nose and sneezing is a sign of allergies.  Talk to her doctor about it.  The teething could make her cranky, but I don't think it would cause the sneezing.

  3. Don't panic, it probably is just the teething. However, with these symptoms it is likely that she does just have a cold, as sudden change in weather (hot to cold - cold to hot) can cause them. Just keep her at a suitable temperature and watch her eating habits, and it should clear within a few days to a week. If you do think she is teething, you can give her some something to sooth her discomfort. Buy her something to chew on, such as a teething toy and she should be fine. Good luck!

  4. sounds like allergies  and those could be intermitting  see your pediatrician for a referal to an allergist

  5. Maybe she has allergies?

  6. I have worked with a lot of children and from experience I have noticed that it was common for them to have a runny nose during teething, I presume she will teeth till she gets all her baby teeth in. On the other hand if its not teething it could be allergies..
