What is wrong with my dachshund? Is it a stomach ache or something more?

I have a 5 year old Dachshund, who just one year ago went through disc surgery. Today, I noticed that he just doesn't want to play or sit with me. He eats, drinks, jumps, walks, and barks just fine. (Really, just fine...) However, he won't play or sit with me.

Every time I go to play with him, he lies down and rolls over, and just wants me to rub his stomach. I've noticed that he has been l*****g near his genital areas a lot.

I think it may just be a stomach ache as I have switched from normal Science Diet to Science Diet Organic.

Any ideas? Please help!!!!

Thanks!

  1. maybe he just doesn't want to play with you. Do you play to rough?  Maybe he is in some sort of discomfort. You should have him checked by a Vet.

  2. It's possible you switched foods too quickly. If you change foods too fast, their systems may not be used to that type of food, and therefore upset it. If you switched any faster than gradually over two weeks, you should start mixing the two foods and start decreasing the normal and increasing the organic. Go slowly, they're used ot eating the same thing everyday, unlike us who switch it up a lot.
