What is wrong with my daughter's mouth?

Question

she was fine 5 minutes ago, then she came to me and said...mom look at my mouth, she already has a cold sore on one side of her mouth with a stuffy/runny rose...she also ate steak and ceasar salad for dinner which we normally eat. So this swell came out of nowhere. She has been laying in bed for the past 2 hours. What could it be and is it serious...what should we do?

She probably bit herself accidentally and it might've become infected. I can't see it very well in the pic but if it's white then it's an ulcer and it'll bother her for a while. It's definitely swollen though and she should see a doctor if it bothers her.

she should go to the DR if doesn't go away cause that's not a cold sore she could've bit it in her sleep

ohhh poor baby! take her to the doctor i've never heard of something like that happening or look up her symptoms at www.webmd.com

I really can't see the sore that well in the pictures, but if it is really sore it might be just be a sore due to lack of vitamins. Also, if it itches and she is trying to itch it a lot, there is a possibility that it could be Hands, Foot, and Mouth disease, which is curable my antibiotics. She should try numbing it up with ice and giving her Tylenol to help the pain. Good luck, and if it doesn't clear up in a day or two and the pain increases or is the same, take her to a doctor.

It sounds like a virus although it could be an allergic reaction.I wouldn't think it's an insect bite.Has she a temperature?If so take her to the doctor.

I would try putting some anbesol on it and see how it looks in the morning, my son had one that looked just like that last week, pretty sure he bit himself and just didn't realize, spec. with the missing teeth as your daughter has as well, It cleared up in 2 or 3 days, though was sore, just keep using the anbeol. Poor thing!
