Question:

What is wrong with my elbow?

In September of last year, I slipped and fell on a rainy patio and slammed my elbow into the ground. It hurt a little, but only when I touched it. But after a week it was still tender, and when I touched it i could feel something floating above my joint and it would make a weird creaky noise and sometimes it would feel pinched. So I went to the doctor and he told me it was probably just inflamed tissue that was irritated, so he perscribed me some anti-inflammatories which I took for three weeks without any results. I also held an ice pack against my elbow for a few hours every day, and whenever it bothered me.

It has been almost a year, and now every now and then I hit my elbow gently against something and I get the same pinching feeling as if the injury was yesterday. How can it still be inflamed after a year?

  1. maybe a fracture and a piece is floating around in there.. that happened to my teacher once but it was her knee

  2. see your doc asap

  3. Chances are it is not inflammed. What could have happened was you either chipped a bone or misaligned your ulna or radius where they connect in the elbow joint. I would go to a chiropractor who specializes in extremity care. If it is a misalignment, a chiropractor can adjust it right back into place. If it's a chipped bone, he would be able to tell that too with an exam.
