Question:

What is wrong with my eyes?!?

For about the last 3 years I've been seeing halos around things. Lights from cars at night, tv screens, or white objects. It's really bad at night but it also happens by day. I have glasses and have had my eyes examined by multiple eye doctors but they never find anything. I'm afraid to drive at night because I cant tell how close oncoming cars are or even see the reflective edges of the road if I'm passed. Headlights give me a hazy starburst with long edges that extend across my field of vision. I'm really getting sick of this and the doctors just dont seem to care. One of them even said it's normal. I get headaches during the day because everything is reflecting off itself and is so BRIGHT! I dunno, suggestions or advice on how to treat/name this would be greatly appreciated.

  1. If you have been seeing an optician or optometrist you may not  be getting the kind of exam you need.  You need to see an opthamologist (MD specialist for eyes).  If you have already seen an opthamologist you should probably see your regular doctor to see if there are any medical problems that could be causing this or if they have any suggestions on what to do next.  It sounds like cataracts and if the cataracts are very early stage or are developing very slowly they could be harder for the doctor to detect. I can appreciate how frustrating this can be.  I have early cataracts and the night time glaring and haloes are a pain. And the lack of a diagnosis is probably even worse for you.  I've been going to Mayo Clinic for over a year and they can't find a diagnosis for what my lungs are doing while I am watching them gradually deteriorate.  Good luck.  I hope you find your answer soon.
