I am a "Baby Boomer" that means I didn't learn computers in school. I

had to learn everything on my own. My problem is when I type an answer to a question, the words will not go across the entire page. It stops and start a new line. Whats up with that. I know it has something

to do with Word Perfect or something. Can ya help?

  1. Deborah, that is called "wrapping". In HTML forms, the default wrapping behavior of text is to wrap - that is, to soft break to a new line. The "nowrap" attribute keeps the element on the same line without the soft line break. Hope this helps. Good luck.

  2. I'm guessing you mean in Y!A, since in researching some of your previous answers, I noticed that indeed, you had some lines that extended fully (wrapped) and some that didn't, resulting in some slightly strange looking answers.

It's probably something to do with your browser (I'm guessing you're using Internet Explorer?) and/or the way you're filling in the forms.  At a guess, when you type into the "Your Answer" box, you may be hitting the "Enter" button every time when you get to the right-hand side of the entry box.  If you do, you'll notice just what you're seeing-- your answers appear as though they don't fill out the entire width.

As an example, I'll write this next paragraph by hitting the

"Enter" key whenever I get to the right-hand side of the box in

my answer.  Now, on to the other possibility.  It could be that

your web browser is doing this for you automatically.  It

shouldn't, but it might be (although I can't imagine why it would

do this-- you may need to specify which browser you're using.

I'd suggest trying Internet Explorer or Firefox.
