i think my hamster is a male. i had to travel so i kept him at my friends' house, and im sure she didn't do anything to it, i even asked her mom, but he seems to have a huge belly and his neck, arms, and head are so bony. he is always sleeping. and he can barely walk. and a couple of months ago he had a fall, and his leg got a little better, but he is still wobblelling. i really son't want to go to a vet because it is so expensive. i was wondering if anyone knows was is happening to my hamster, please help me out. he also hasn't been excersing much beacuse of his leg, but that wasn't happening before i left for my trip.

also... can tapeworms and pinworms be passed onto a person, if so can it kill a person? and how can it pass on to a person? because i touched my hamster.

  1. You should take him to the vet and ask the vet

  2. blame your friend!

  3. This doesn't sound good at all.  If he fell I would expect his leg to have maybe swollen up a little, but the fact he can hardly walk is worrying me.  If you love your hamster you would take it to the vet, it's really not that expensive (I had one that needed an injection and it cost £8).

For me anyway, I would pay out my last penny to make sure my animals were ok. Maybe think of getting some pet insurance, it would only be a few pounds a month (I'm assuming you're in the UK)  Get on the net and get some quotes.

I hope your hamster is OK and it turns out that it's nothing serious.
