  1. call a vet, they do suffer with eye problems.

  2. He may have the hamster equivalent of conjunctivitis(Pink Eye). Call your vet, he will more than likely have a better answer than anyone on Y!A. And he can tell you what exactly to do about it, whether it be take the hamster to the vet or whatever.

  3. It usually happens when the hamster has a pink eye, or if it is staying in a dirty and sticky place...or water/pus from the eye just make it sticky.

No need to worry, because it is normal with hamsters.

However, you should not let it stay that way.

*Take a Cotton bud/ear bud and soak the cotton with warm water.

*Gently rub the wet cotton over the hamster's shut eye.

*Keep on at it until you clean all the hard eye mucous off.

*Then gently wipe of the wetness from the eye using a soft dry cloth or tissue paper.

If you see more of eye mucous, then repeat the process.

Remember to hold your hamster gently...it is normal for them to move a lot since they don't like anyone playing with their eyes!

    lol

Do this 3 times a day, and your hamster should be able to open it's eye normally very soon.

Don't be surprised if the eye looks swollen.

However, if you cannot do it, let an experienced Hamster owner or a vet do it for you.

    Hope this helped.

  4. No, this is most definitely not normal. I wouldn't recommend that you pry it open, as you can cause further damage to the game. It's likely an eye infection, or more serious, an illness.

I would definitely recommend that you take your hamster to an exotic veterinary center. Above, it was speaking about steps to take, (the long entry) -- do NOT try and wet your hamster's eye. That will make your hamster blind, -- not a good idea.

I hope your hamster feels better and you can fix this problem. If you need any further assistance, please, please e-mail me!
