So last year I was a part of an intense marching band for my high school and i started having extreme hip pain towards the end of the season (we jazz run, run, march extremely fast in the show while I play a brass instrument that requires a lot of air..it's hard). so I went to a physical therapist and got an MRI and a lot of other tests. I used resistant bands and exercises to strengthen my hip but the pain never really stopped until the season ended.

I started running about februrary, and i really started to run hard and long about a month ago. i run between 3-4 miles 5 or 6 times a week. along with crunches, pilates, and machines at the gym.

and unfortunatly, my hip has started to really bother me. it hurts more than any pain i've ever felt. it hurts when i walk, walk fast, run, sit, stand, bend over, just everything. it hurts on the hip bone part, below the protruding bone in that angle, and above the hip bone. i dont know what it could be.

i think it might be from overuse.

  1. I run five days a week and I also had hip pain. Though I am not sure if my pain is from the same source as yours, I'll tell you what I know about mine.

I also went to physical therapy and would get a deep tissue massage and do strengthening exercises.

My problem was "hip tendonitis" and I basically had to stop running for two months and ice my hip every time after I started to run again.

Overuse is a definite possibility, and basically you need to give it time to rest.
